There is a world, or maybe worlds very similar to ours. If you were placed suddenly in one of them, you may or may not notice the subtle differences. My Grandfather ‘appeared’ when I was very young and often told me stories of his younger years. “Do you believe in Father Christmas?” he once said. Well, I answered “of course”, for I was a boy of a mere eight years. “So do I”, he said. “So do I”. Only years later did I realise that he actually meant it, and thought back to some of the tales he bestowed me. Horror, comedy, love and living death; he had experienced them all. I choose to share these with you now, for I feel that there are things around us that remain unnoticed, except perhaps by someone who knows how to look, or maybe we would see them just by chance, one day when we least expect it. Remember, as you look into a mirror one day and see a shadow move in the corner of the room, to ask yourself whether you believe that you are really alone, or is there someone or something trying to attract your attention.

Only one little shift in dimension and you could be standing behind the mirror, now left handed instead of right, your hair parted the other way and the buttons on your shirt stitched uncomfortably on the wrong side. A collection of stories, tell how life at the beginning of the twentieth century, became one adventure after another for James Brodin, his wife and their closest friends. A world changing fast as new inventions made everyday life something of a mystery and a challenge. They also warn that however content you may be with your lot, fate will always show it’s hand to upset or perhaps help re-map your expectations. Enter the world of dreams, for there, everything is real. |
